I’m not quite sure how I came across your blog in the endless world that is the blogosphere but I’m here. Chances are it was through someone else’s blog roll. Either way, I like the writing here
Whilst we’re on the subject of who’s reading what, I’m reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki. But I’m not reading it because I haven’t read it before… Instead, I’m reading it because I want to do a weekly/bi-weekly review of the chapters on my blog while hi-lighting basic but important financial topics. Much like a “Book Club” would do but in this case we’re going virtual. What do you think?

I, like Wade, got here from somewhere (maybe even Wade’s post). I read a lot of blogs (over 60 feeds) plus I try to read at least 3 books a month, such as Citizen Marketers (excellent book that will help bloggers).
Now, I do not have time to read the whole book most of the time, so I have a service that does 8-page summaries of the book. I even became an affiliate marketer of that service as I think it is a valuable tool for most people, especially those owning a business. If anyone is interested in it, just let me know.

I would love to hear more about your summary service. I love to read classics that I should have read in high school, new fiction, and more non fiction than I do…but I never seem to have the time.

The summary service is executive books, covering managment, marketing, leadership, etc. There is also another one for financial books as well, but I do not know of one that covers all types of books.
One good thing about the summary subscription is that you can download in a PDF, or even an MP3 to load on your device and “read” while you workout. I have found it very valuable to gain knowledge quickly.

I just got around to reading some of your “Making Life Work For You” blog. Boy, there’s lots of people who visit your site! You asked ‘What are you reading now’ – so thought I’d share. I just finished Spring Fancy by LaVyrle Spencer. She is a New York Times Bestselling Author, and gets reviews from as far as the West Coast. She also is a 4-time winner of the Golden Medallion Award for Best Historical Romance. You have to “love” romance stories to appreciate her talent. But her books are so easy to read, and you just want to finish it as quickly as possible so you can find out what happens next! The main character in this book is a physical therapist, and Mrs. Spencer brings you right into the aspect of how P.T.’s really are human too and sometimes they can’t help but become involved with their patients. But of course the main character has a love life (or 2) and the whole book connects with “real life every-day things” that a young woman might encounter. Ok, can’t tell you any more – I’ll spoil the fun of your (or anyone else) reading it. Anyway, I have several of her books at the moment that I will be trying to finish in the next month or so. I really wish I had more time to read fiction. I love to do it and always get caught up reading the latest non-fiction stuff.
But, I did recently finish a great fiction book given to me by Lani. It’s called “Can You Keep a Secret.” It is laugh out loud funny.
Now, I have something to share. Sounds fun! I just finished Banana Heart Summer by Merlinda Bobis. She’s a Filipina with a great passion for the arts. The novel tackled the typical Filipino scene- deprived with all aspects. I can incorporate Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to all the characters in the novel; the need to be love, respect, the need for food and money. We can see how the characters’ working or trying to survive just to have a better life. And on every chapter, you have something to ponder on and you’ll be excited to find out what’s gonna be the characters’ next move.
It’s really worthy to read, you will this realization if this is really happening in the modern world. But here in the Philippines, it does.
Rhei – I bet you have lots to share! What a great read that sounds like – not to mention an incredible analysis of the motivation.
BTW – just checked out your site…very interesting. I’ll have to poke around it some more
